How the PGE Smart Battery Pilot Works

These events, which typically occur 10 to 15 times per year during periods of high electricity demand, help balance the grid by utilizing stored energy when it’s most needed.

PGE will not request power from a participant’s battery during a power outage. According to the company, PGE keeps a close eye on weather and won’t request power from a battery if severe conditions are likely to cause outages in the area.
The Smart Battery Pilot Program is scheduled to run until July 31, 2025. PGE is working to develop a
program to transition to after the expiration of the pilot.

Who is Eligible for PGE Smart Battery Pilot?
