Oregon Announces New Solar+Storage Incentive

The Oregon Department of Energy has allocated $10 million for a new Solar+Storage Rebate Program. The new Oregon solar incentive will promote solar energy and battery storage, as well as provide greater solar access for low- and moderate-income households.

HOW MUCH IS SOLAR+STORAGE REBATE?

The Oregon Solar+Storage Rebate program provides rebate incentives for both solar panels and battery storage installations. Each of these rebates is income-based, with higher rebates for low- and moderate-income residents.

Solar Rebate

  • Low- or moderate-income residents: $1.80 per watt DC of installed capacity, up to 60% of net cost or $5,000 (whichever is lower).
  • Residents not low- or moderate-income but are eligible for utility incentive: $0.20 per watt DC installed capacity, up to 40% of costs or $5,000 (whichever is lower).
  • Residents not low- or moderate-income and not eligible for utility incentive: $0.50 per watt DC installed capacity, up to 40% of costs or $5,000 (whichever is lower).

Storage (Battery) Rebate

  • Low- or moderate-income residents: $300 per kWh of installed storage capacity, up to 60% of net cost or $2,500 (whichever is lower).
  • Residents not low- or moderate-income: $300 per kWh of installed storage capacity, up to 40% of net cost or $2,500 (whichever is lower).

WHO IS ELIGIBILE FOR OREGON SOLAR+STORAGE REBATE?

The Oregon Solar+Storage Rebate program is income-based, with higher rebates for low- and moderate-income residents. To qualify as low- or moderate-income, residents must meet one of the following criteria.

Must be eligible for one of following programs

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Oregon Energy Assistance Program
  • Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Oregon Health Plan (OHP, Medicaid)
  • Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
